About me

Born in Sliedrecht, Zuid Holland, I've had the incredible opportunity to travel the world, exploring diverse aquaculture environments from Holland and Nigeria to Japan and Norway, among many other locations. These experiences have enriched my understanding and expertise in the field. From a young age, I have been captivated by the underwater world. Whether it's snorkeling, sport fishing, maintaining aquariums, or enjoying seafood cuisine, I am endlessly fascinated by life beneath the surface. Recognizing the critical role fish play as a source of nutritious and delicious protein, I have dedicated my career to advancing the aquaculture industry.

Fisheries play a vital global role in providing protein to many people, but they are a limiting source, with some fisheries already exploited to their maximum or beyond. To feed the world with healthy, nutritious food, aquaculture is essential. The aquaculture industry, while still relatively young, presents a vast array of challenges and opportunities. As we strive to enhance production, it is essential to balance higher output with sustainable practices. Achieving this balance is crucial for the long-term growth and success of aquaculture, ensuring that increased yields do not come at the expense of environmental health.
